John de Drury

John de Drury was a medieval knight who served in William the Conqueror's army. He accompanied William for the Norman Conquest of 1066. Drury fought in the Battle of Hastings on 14 October 14,1066. His name appears in the "Roll of Battle Abby," a list of distinguished knights who showed courage during the battle.

After the battle, Drury was granted a domain by the Crown in County Suffolk, England, named "Thurston." The estate remained in the family for six hundred years.
